See how the stars align for your wedding
by Emily Trinkaus
If you’re planning a summer wedding -- or participating in one -- check the astrological forecast ahead of time and be prepared for any planetary stormy weather. Cooperating with the cosmic forces can make the difference between disappointment and success on your big day.
June: Test of Faith
The Summer Solstice on June 21 is especially auspicious for weddings on or around that date, but also bodes well for all summer nuptials. How the planets align on the Solstice sets the tone for the entire season, and this year Venus and Mars -- the cosmic lovers -- are entwined in a romantic embrace.
In the sensual sign of Taurus, this planetary conjunction blesses summer marriages with fertility and abundance. Moreover, Venus and Mars will both form a harmonious trine to Saturn, invoking stability and longevity.
But it’s not all sunshine for summer weddings -- on June 15, Jupiter turns Retrograde. When the planet representing expansion, wealth, confidence and faith reverses directions, ambitious plans may need to be reconsidered and scaled back. This influence is strongest on and around June 15, and in effect until October 13.
Helpful Hint: Keep the faith! Don’t be discouraged if you need to alter your plans to be less extravagant and expensive. Instead of pushing the river and trying to stick to the original vision, your best bet is to be flexible and gracefully adjust to the present reality.
Retrograde planets turn your attention from external circumstances to your inner truth and higher perspective. Stay focused on what really matters -- your happy union with your beloved -- and consider any obstacles as opportunities to deepen your faith.
Best June wedding dates: June 6-7, June 20-21
July: Go with the Flow
This summer features a rare set of three dramatic Eclipses, and the first two detonate in July. Eclipses are high-pressure times of emotional intensity, when whatever has been repressed from the previous six months rises to the surface. Weddings are inherently prone to some degree of emotional drama, and Eclipses magnify this potential, especially with the Sun in super-sensitive Cancer (June 21 to July 22).
With a Lunar Eclipse on July 7, followed by a Solar Eclipse on July 21, this month packs a powerful punch that can either support or thwart your wedding bliss, depending on how you respond.
Helpful Hint: If you try to keep a lid on strong emotions, they’re likely to erupt at an inopportune moment. Let your feelings flow. This could mean taking a time-out and retreating to the restroom for a good cry. Keep extra tissues on hand for family members, bridesmaids and even groomsmen. Some people may be more vulnerable to the influence than others, so it’s best to be extra-sensitive to people’s feelings, and practice compassion.
In addition to heightened emotions, Eclipse periods also typically feature the element of surprise. The rule is to expect the unexpected, so if your event doesn’t unfold precisely as planned, go with the flow and trust in positive outcomes. Keep in mind that it’s easy to blow things out of proportion -- whatever feels like the end of the world during Eclipse time will seem much less significant a month from now.
Best July wedding dates: July 4-5, July 25-26
