Another Side of Shannon Day
A new movie release reveals the SkyVibe host's exciting early years!
Cancer is the sign of the Crab, and often represents people who have a figurative "hard outer shell" that protects a sensitive emotional core. But Crabs also respect deep feeling in others. SkyVibe host Shannon Day, born July 2, is more Cancerian than her dynamic personality and popping wardrobe might suggest!
While Shannon's flare for fashion and her hosting abilities suggest that she is more Leo or Libra, she actually has a rich, hidden life beyond the flashing bulbs of Tarot.com -- and this is very Crab-like!
As a Water sign deeply connected to the changing tides of the ocean, Cancer is known for having one of the highest emotional IQs of the zodiac. As Shannon introduces countless Tarot.com members to their week through dynamic SkyVibe video horoscopes, she demonstrates a strong commitment to decoding the cosmos for all her viewers, ensuring they are both informed and entertained. At the same time, her ruling planet is the Moon -- that mysterious lady of the skies who rules our emotional lives. This is fitting for Tarot.com's glamorous face of Astrology, because before she became the host of SkyVibe, Shannon already had an impressive film and television resume -- and a discography containing everything from electronica to self-penned torch songs.
With that famous Cancerian ability to tap into deep emotion -- and relate to the emotional lives of others -- Shannon has proven her acting chops in hard-hitting independent film projects and well-known TV series. Interestingly, it was her work on a kids' show (1991's two-season Land of the Lost) that is making a comeback! With the success of Will Ferrell's blockbuster remake, it's interesting to look at another place in broadcasting where Shannon truly made an impact: playing jungle-dwelling beauty Christa in one of the inspirations for Will Ferrell's tongue-in-cheek cinematic tribute to Land of the Lost. Watch clips of Shannon Day in Land of the Lost here.
The early '90s version of Land of the Lost featured the Porters, a modern-day family of three that got sucked into a time warp, landing them in prehistoric times. As Christa, Shannon proved herself an invaluable guide to their survival in the jungle … and the object of the teenage son's affection. This is the perfect role for a Cancer, the sign of the Caretaker. As the show progressed, the deeply sympathetic Christa was revealed to be very similar to the Porters, having been born in 1960s San Francisco, only to be similarly sucked into a strange land. Years of living on her own stamped out most of her language abilities and all memories of her family, who died at sea (but whom she sometimes remembers through dreams).
Shannon's flare for the dramatic shines through in situations where's she called upon to "show not tell" -- very Cancerian! Her character -- an almost feral siren who has survived a couple decades with no human contact -- calls upon Shannon's ability to tell a story while saying very little. At times, however, Shannon is asked to express a lot vocally and show off her staggering singing talents with wild calls to ward off predators and warn of danger.
Shannon's fascinating TV, film and music credentials tell of a person whose "outer shell" -- in this case, a style-savvy beauty with boundless energy -- hides fascinating nuances! In addition to her work on Tarot.com, film and TV, Shannon has enjoyed a stellar modeling career and exciting musical work that ranges from the traditional to the experimental.
How much of Shannon is there in Christa? With her lithe movement and air of wisdom, well, if Christa had a more confident grasp of the English language, it isn't hard to imagine her instructing the Porter family to keep vibin' their skies!
