Starting Your Own Business by Zodiac Sign

The key to being a successful entrepeneur is in your Sun sign!

by

The country's unemployment rate is around 9%, which means lots of people are scrambling to make a living. Although a vast majority are probably networking and scouring the internet job boards, many folks are choosing to be entrepreneurs in the hopes that they can support themselves with a small business. And employees who have been asked to cut back hours or pay are thinking of side businesses to supplement their incomes. No matter what your zodiac sign, you may have some of that "self-starter" juice in you. Read on to learn what your strengths and weaknesses may be when starting your own business.

Aries (March 21 - April 19)
The upside: More than any other sign, you have the inspiration and pioneering energy to start just about any project, as well as the leadership skills required to attract folks willing to take risks with you.
The downside: You have virtually no follow-through. After your initial burst of activity, you're bored and are moving on to another project. If you want to start a business, find a partner who will stick with it no matter what obstacles (including boredom) get in the way.

Taurus (April 20 - May 20)
The upside: Thanks to your "fixed" energy, you will see your business through to the bitter end, and will not give up no matter what obstacles you face. Dependability and stubbornness are your greatest assets as a business owner and entrepeneur.
The downside: No offense, but imagination is not your strong suit. You may be good with money and the pragmatic aspects of running a business, but sometimes you're too earthbound to have those innovative ideas that break new ground in your field.

Gemini (May 21 - June 20)
The upside: You're one of the most socially connected people in the zodiac. Your virtual Rolodex is packed with contacts, and you can depend on networking and positive word of mouth to virally spread information about your new business.
The downside: Distractibility. Your mind is constantly on the move, seeking new and exciting things. The consistency required to attend to the mundane details of a business can bore you to tears. Find a subcontractor to take care of the nitty-gritty so that you can grease the wheels in your business circles.

Cancer (June 21 - July 22)
The upside: No matter what business you start, you have the ability to make it a home away from home. Whether it's a storefront or a service, customers and clients will come to you because they feel taken care of and nurtured in your presence.
The downside: You love to care for others, but you also need to get paid. It can be all to easy to under-charge for a service when you're mothering someone, and some people can take advantage of your generosity.

Leo (July 23 - August 22)
The upside: You have so much charisma and such a creative spark that you should have no problem attracting customers no matter what you do. Likewise, your warmth and high-spiritedness will make any employees you hire feel like it is a pleasure to work for you.
The downside: "It's just business" is important for you to hear, because for you, it's personal. Any strike at your new company feels like a swipe at your dignity. Let go of your pride and recognize that any criticism about your new venture is about the company, not about you.

Virgo (August 23 - September 22)
The upside: Your ability to streamline processes and work efficiently and diligently will ensure that you run your business without any wasteful overhead. You are also so dedicated to improving your craft so that any customer will immediately recognize that they can rely on you for quality and competence.
The downside: Sometime you can be so focused on the work itself that you forget that half of business is looking up from your desk and chatting people up. Unless you can get out there and pimp your services, your business is unlikely to thrive.
