![]() Feng Shui Tips for TeensAttract abundance as early as high schoolWhether you want to make more friends, get better grades or get along better with mom and dad, the Chinese art of placement called Feng Shui can help you get what you want. Try these tips in your bedroom and you might be amazed at the doors that start opening for you. Feng Shui believes that clutter blocks the flow of good energy, so first you've got to get rid of as much stuff as you can. Take a good look at your room and decide what needs to stay and what can go. For clothes, use the closet rule -- if you haven't worn it in six months, it's out the door. Magazines, old school folders and books, outdated posters and flyers ... anything that's been lying around gathering dust ... now's the time to give it away or recycle it. Maximize Your Feng Shui
Next, you may not like to hear this, but you have to clean your room thoroughly. Get out the vacuum and the duster and get down to business. Chi gets stuck in dirt, so you've got to get rid of it. When you finish, stand in the middle of the room and take a deep breath. Doesn't it feel better already? Now, get a compass. Draw a simple map of the space from the middle of the room. Jot down the directions (north, east, south and west), because Feng Shui is all about placing objects where they'll do the most good for you. Learning your kua energy number (based on your birth date) will tell you your luckiest direction. Create a Restful Space Don't put bookshelves behind your bed, because they can act like knives and encourage people to talk behind your back. You also don't want a mirror within sight of your bed. Try not to have the foot of your bed across from a doorway either, or the energy you gather when you sleep can flow right out the door. Many people associate Feng Shui with water, so they think fountains or aquariums are good additions. This is actually true for other parts of your home, but they're not good for bedrooms. In bedrooms, water is thought to aggravate medical problems like asthma. For this same reason, if you have a bathroom attached to your bedroom, make sure you keep its door closed when you're not using it, especially while you sleep. Plants are usually bad for bedrooms too, as are ceiling fans. You want the energy in your bedroom to be calm when you sleep, so if you do have a fan, turn it off at night. Power Placement is Key Your computer is probably the center of your world, so of course you keep it powered up all day -- just remember to turn it off or close your laptop at night. Try not to use your computer in bed either -- the bed is for rest, and electrical items can drain the energy you gain during sleep so you can't recharge. Related Articles

If you and your friends spend time in your room, this is the area to set up for hanging out. Be sure to turn the TV off at night. The southwest area of your room is associated with love, so if you have your eye on someone special, add candles and pink and white objects to this area. Always place them in pairs to symbolize partnership. If possible, place a bulletin board on your south wall -- your fame sector. Pin photos of your favorite celebs on it, and put any certificates or trophies you have earned in this area too. Your east wall is where you want to hang pictures of your family. If you aren't getting along with mom, dad or one of your siblings, this area can help change that. Choose photos that place them in a good light, because this will encourage you to remember good things about them. Keep the Faith About the Author |
