Whether you work from home or not, it's a good idea to set aside space for business in your home. Such a spot honors the labor you do, and can attract a variety of moneymaking opportunities. Don't worry if you lack a room to devote to business activities. All you need is a private corner -- and some good feng shui tips -- to create a successful home office.

Open Your Door for Business
Doors represent opportunity of all kinds. If you want to launch a successful business, you need to pay careful attention to both your front and office doors. Make sure both open easily and do not squeak. If you need to replace stiff locks or oil rusty hinges, do so, or it may be hard to attract the business you need to thrive. Make sure your address is clearly visible from the curb of your home, and hang a nameplate outside your office area. This will help you attract a steady stream of clients.

Define Your Work Space
Devoting a space for work will enable you to focus on your tasks and perform more efficiently. Ideally, your home office should be separate from your bedroom. If you must place your office in your bedroom, be sure to screen it thoroughly from the view of the bed. Otherwise, your public and personal lives will feel fragmented and unsatisfying. In the event your home office is in a public space, like the kitchen or living room, shield it from view with a screen, row of plants or strategically placed bins and baskets.

Face Front
Being able to see the entryway of your home office is essential, as it helps you recognize opportunities and puts you at ease. If your workspace doesn't afford a clear view of the door, suspend a mirror so that you can see people entering and exiting. Hanging a bell on the door or suspending a beaded curtain across the entryway will also alert you to visitors, as well as moneymaking opportunities.

A Room with a View
The beauty of having a home office is that you can decorate it any way you want. Hanging an inspiring picture within clear view of your desk will greatly improve your productivity. If you can't hang something slightly above eye level across from your desk, place an attractive picture on the far corner of your desk, on the same side as your dominant hand.

Bloom Where You're Planted
Plants inspire growth and optimism. Keep a healthy plant in the far left corner of your office, where they will attract new clients and increase your earnings. Plants are also beneficial when placed on the left side of your office, where they will attract the support of your peers. Putting a plant in the center portion of the far wall of your office will generate public acclaim and awards.
