Will our friends from Hogwarts couple off in 'Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince?'

In this latest installment of the epic 'Harry Potter' series, we see our favorite adolescent wizard once again doing battle with his arch nemesis, the leader of the Death Eaters, Voldemort. Although the enemy never seems to change for brave, beleaguered Harry, his allies (and the teenage drama) do!

There have been romances within the walls of Hogwarts before, but with 'Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince,' dating gets ever-more complicated. This time around, Ron finds himself in a love triangle with his first girlfriend, Lavendar Brown, and his longtime frienemy Hermione. Meanwhile, Harry has competition for young Ginny's fair hand.

But at the heart of this complicated mix are the characters we've come to love from the beginning. Using their names and birthdays, we look at the compatibility between these core characters, and take a fun look at Hogwarts as a whole.

Ron and Hermione
Will these two ever make peace? Early competition in school gave way to a love-hate dynamic ... and in puberty, that can only add up to flirtation! But as Ron and Hermione grow up and are propelled to their own fates, how compatible are Ron and Hermione down the road? If they survive the myriad threats to their time at Hogwarts, will a relationship blossom down the line? Or even for the duration of the film?

Hermione's Life Path Number (LPN) is 11, showing that she is intuitive and energetic -- she uses this energy to compensate for the fact that she is the daughter of Muggles, or, parents who had no magic abilities of their own, and is often teased in school for not being a legacy wizard. Still, from her first appearance on screen, she has oozed potential and, in true 11 form, pushed those close to her to be better versions of themselves. Her sponge-like mind makes her a devoted student, and her friends often struggle to keep up. In this way, on the 11 Life Path, Hermione is able to be the bridge between tangible and intangible ideas, ensuring that she is well on her way to success in the world of wizardry.

Meanwhile, Ron's LPN is 3. This ensures that although he might seem immature and, at times, like a lazy student early on, he has the inner power to be successful. Most of this success will come from his ability to tap into his blossoming skills in strategy, and to get himself and his friends out of perilous situations. At the same time, if he feels wounded in an emotional way, he draws into himself, which can hurt his chances at becoming a self-assured wizard. Still, as a 3, he is able to let negativity roll off his back -- possibly the result of his being the "disappointing" son of a large family, and of having twin older brothers bullying him!

Together, these two seem like they might repel each other. Hermione is confident in her abilities as a student, but with a LPN of 11, she is very sensitive in matters of the heart. She excels at spells, but Ron's more easy-going attitude toward emotional issues might push Hermione away. And Ron's 3 LPN can sometimes make him a little too upbeat, causing him to make playful comments that insult Hermione.

At the same time, there is a lot of passion in an 11/3 connection, and if you're up to speed on all your 'Harry Potter' films, you'll see that these two have the power to truly get under each other's skin. This passion comes from a mutual attraction, but a shared history of adventures (and misadventures!) as well, along with Hermione and Ron's mutual loyalty to Harry. Because they have so much in common, and because they both have so much to bring to the relationship, Hermione and Ron could be a good match after all!

Also, if Hermione and Ron were to couple off during their time at Hogwarts, they would only be furthering each other toward exciting futures. 11 and 3 can increase each other's creativity (very important in wizardry!) and expand the boundaries of how each looks at the world. As long as Ron can keep his lip in check, and Hermione is careful not to derail Ron by hurting him in a way that only she knows how (as she has in the past!) then this duo can continue to blossom ... and have Harry's back!
