The process of change that began when transformational Pluto entered your sign in 2008 grows broader and deeper this year. It touches almost every area of your life and paradoxically challenges you to establish a long-term plan while remaining flexible enough to make snap decisions when circumstances call for them. Saturn, your ruling planet, is meant to guide you through a middle course of moderation, reason and compromise. Saturn entered accommodating Libra on October 29, 2009 and will remain there for almost three years, except for a brief return visit  to earthy Virgo from April 7 to July 21.

Saturn in diplomatic Libra falls in your 10th House of Career, where success depends upon your ability to understand others and temper your ambition and need for control. Meeting people halfway takes more effort than marching ahead at your own pace, yet without the support of friends, family and colleagues, you're more likely to end up out on a limb than at the pinnacle.

A seesaw of ups and downs
Four powerful outer planets -- Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus and Pluto -- will be in initiating cardinal signs this year, moving in and out of a series of stressful patterns with one another that are bound to reshape your life in significant ways. Opportunistic Jupiter, shifting between pliable Pisces and assertive Aries, opposes stop-sign Saturn on May 23, August 16 and March 28, 2011. Every forward step or hopeful idea from Jupiter encounters resistance from strict Saturn. It's a process that can squash your plans, or, conversely, ensure they're solid enough to be turned into reality. A seesaw of ups and downs follows the ebb and flow of your expanding vision and the barriers you face.

Saturn's tense squares with relentless Pluto on January 31 and August 21 are tests of will that began around November 15, 2009. Weighing the intensity of your desires against the price of fulfilling them could see you questioning your values, your purpose and your competence. Still, volatile Uranus and Saturn oppose each other on April 26 and July 26, the last in a series of shape-shifting events that started in November 2008. While these indicate surprises that you can't control, they also offer breakthroughs that can shatter your self-imposed limits and open you to a new world of possibilities, personally and professionally.

Creating space for expansion
This year's odd juxtaposition of stress and discovery shows up early with a solar eclipse in Capricorn on January 15. While the event carries the potential for a loss of status, this is countered by the Sun and Moon's conjunction with magnetic Venus. The planet of pleasure and sociability connects you with supportive people and inspires creativity to help you find joy during turbulent times. On June 26, however, a lunar eclipse in Capricorn is joined with purging Pluto, reflecting power struggles that you can't win by force. Letting go of inessential projects and destructive self-judgment will create space for greater self-awareness. This is the path toward discovering and applying your underused abilities and resources.
