Meet the challenges to reap the rewards

Although you naturally excel at creating harmony where there is discord, your skills of diplomacy will be severely tested this year. First and foremost, Saturn the Taskmaster entered your sign on October 29, 2009 for a visit that lasts until October 5, 2012. You are already in the process of finishing old business to prepare for new opportunities ahead, but Saturn's journey through your 1st House of Self may feel like a burden that can stress the very foundations of your life. If you're on the right track and have been doing solid work, Saturn will bring you the rewards you've earned. But judgmental Saturn will also demonstrate where you have failed or areas of your life that now need critical attention. It's crucial to view any current difficulties you now face as messages from the stern planet. Don't waste time and energy feeling sorry for yourself; overcome your weariness or depression by executing a workable plan to meet the challenges. But don't expect a simple pass-or-fail grade on Saturn's report card, for you're more likely to find success in some quarters of your life and disappointment in others.

Lightening your load
Don't be surprised if you can't move forward as fast as you want, for Saturn will slow you down until you get it right. When Saturn retrogrades back into analytical Virgo and your 12th House of Endings on April 7 -- where it was for the previous two years -- you will be required to tie up loose ends to lighten your load. This is no time for laziness; it will be much easier to settle karmic debts before Saturn reenters your sign on July 21.

Transformative Pluto adds intensity while stirring up issues from your past as it moves through your 4th House of Roots. You're convinced you just don't have the time or resources to get ahead of the waves of change. Saturn's square to unrelenting Pluto began on November 15, 2009, to remind you that you cannot do it all. This suppressive aspect recurs on January 31 and August 21, demanding that you cut back inessential activities and eliminate unhealthy relationships. Additionally, rebellious Uranus continues its long standoff with traditional Saturn, forcing you to break free of tension by taking radical action, especially around April 26 and July 26.

Change is on the horizon
Fortunately, there is also excitement on your horizon as Uranus the Awakener opens your eyes to new relationship possibilities, especially when it visits enthusiastic Aries and your 7th House of Partnerships from May 27 through August 13. Although the planet spends the rest of the year disrupting your day-to-day activities, it's a familiar pattern -- Uranus has been in your 6th House of Daily Routines since 2003. Opportunistic Jupiter joins the Awakener on June 8 and September 18 to blast you out of complacency and into your future. Their third and final conjunction won't occur until January 4, 2011, yet your anticipation of change will build through the end of the year.
