Realize the benefits of Sagittarius ruling over the Thanksgiving holiday

By Rick Levine

Thanksgiving is the ultimate Sagittarius holiday.

Every year, Thanksgiving falls on the first Thursday after the Sun moves into Sagittarius. The days of the week are each associated with a planet. For example, Thursdays are named after the Norse god Thor, who is the Norse equivalent of the Roman god Jupiter. And Jupiter is the ruling planet of Sagittarius!

Sagittarius is a Fire sign that's all about the inspiration of letting our dreams and thoughts soar. The symbol of Sagittarius is the arrow, pointing toward the heavens. Sagittarius encourages us to rise above our nationalistic viewpoints, to broaden our perspective, and to travel.

The idea of Europeans traveling to America and being greeted by the Native Americans by fellowship and good feelings (no matter what their individual differences were -- and what happened later) is an example of Sagittarius energy. Thanksgiving is not about any theology -- it's simply about the high idealism of good fellowship.

Sagittarius, however, is also the sign of denial. Because Sagittarius spends so much time looking upward, they never look down at the shadows -- the things they don't want to think about. But the time of Sagittarius occurs right after the shadowy period of Scorpio, so it's good to think of this time of year as uplifting, positive, and magical, because we're emerging from the shadows.

Embrace the spirit of Sagittarius and go party during this Thanksgiving holiday! While you may have bigger concerns in the back of your mind, this is a day to put family and gratitude first and allow your spirit to soar.
