More on Michael Jackson…
July 29th, 2009 by Isha Lerner“I used to dream
I used to glance beyond the stars
Now I don’t know where we are
although I know we’ve drifted far
What about yesterday
What about the seas
The heavens are falling down
I can’t even breathe
What about the bleeding Earth
Can’t we feel its wounds
What about nature’s worth?
It’s our planet’s womb.”
Michael Jackson
A close friend of mine phoned to share a few of his thoughts regarding Michael Jackson and the media coverage that continues to follow his story. In philosophical fashion we discussed the various controversies and similarities that coincide with other celebrities, especially those offered the fate of extraordinary influence and charisma. We named a few: Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendricks, Marilyn Monroe, JFK, John Bellucci, the great artist, Van Gogh, and exceptional healer, Edward Bach, all of whom fell to the fate of an early death, leaving behind an immortal imprint of legacy.
Each of these individuals mirrored to the masses an unbridled ability to throw off the shackles of mediocrity, step into a lime light, and raise the bar of eccentricity to yet another notch. Somehow their madness, charisma, light, and sheer brilliance would woo us into oblivion, worship, idealization, and curiosity, not unlike a moth to the flame.
German philosopher Friedrich Wilhelm Nietzsche wrote: “Charisma occurs spontaneously in people who are compelled to be themselves, no matter what.”
In tiny increments we are all a part of this vital light and charisma, yet there are those whose inner flame becomes a living bonfire, throwing light into the darkened corners of humanity’s search for Self Expression and Individuation. In an extraordinary way, bigger than life celebrities become the torch bearers within a culture, sacrificing in the name of destiny, offering their flame of eccentricity so that we may ignite a bit of our own unbound passion.
My friend is not fluffy or kind when he speaks of Michael Jackson. He believes that Michael stretched his weirdness too far, and that his eccentric ways demonstrated a fierce defiance against maturation. He feels his behavior would have been truly scorned had he not been a celebrity, and that we all have an obligation to “grow up.” Yet, Michael’s light will continue to inspire as humanity mourns, judges, and continues to long for freedom while holding tight to the tethers of self preservation.
In Michael’s yearning for love, affection, and acceptance, he broke the code of normal, landing himself a controversial trial regarding one of the most unforgivable accusations of all, child molestation. In part two of my reflections of Michael Jackson, I will explore this controversy with as much sensitivity as I can while investigating the inner angle of his Sun/Pluto aspect prominent within his Astrology chart and a Venus/Chiron opposition. Stay tuned.
“I have always maintained my innocence, and vehemently denied that these events ever took place. I reluctantly chose to settle the false claims only to end the terrible publicity and to continue with my life and career.” –Michael Jackson

I feel Michael was attempting to delay the aging process by the medically induced deep sleep. I also think he may have been a candidate for transexual change and that it was his ultimate goal.
