Saturn in Libra: Get Ready to Face Love Head-On
October 28th, 2009 by Cosmic ReporterPlanets travel through the zodiac at their own pace, but when slow-moving “old man” Saturn moves into a new sign once every two years, it is a HUGE deal — and it has very significant implications for all of us!
Saturn is moving from Virgo to Libra now, influencing what concerns us as individuals, as well as the bigger issues that come to light globally. Saturn is known as the “life lesson” planet, the one that forces you to face, work through and ultimately grow out of fears and hang-ups. It is also the karma planet, reminding us that we reap what we sow (good or bad), and this strict, grandfatherly influence promotes the themes associated with the sign it’s in.
For the past two years, we’ve been dealing with Virgo-related issues: work, for example, and an analysis of the way certain systems are organized. Interestingly enough, in the past two years, the job market has been shaken up as a result of faulty mortgage and financial systems (impacting people on a very personal level, and having heavy ramifications on a global one). This is Saturn showing us where things need to change.
Now that Saturn’s in balance-seeking relationship sign Libra, we’ll be forced to consider which relationships (in all areas of our lives) are beneficial — and which ones have outgrown their usefulness. But Saturn shines the spotlight on us, too, and we’ll ask ourselves if we’re being the best friend/relative/colleague/partner we can possibly be.
Again, Saturn is the planet of reckoning, so any aspects of our personal lives which we’ve ignored will be brought to the forefront. And yes, this is especially true in love!
If you’re in a relationship, cracks in the foundation will grow to a breaking-point: you will face lingering or unresolved issues, and either part ways or come out of Saturn’s “tests” a stronger couple.
If you’re single, your desire to partner off will grow stronger (even if you didn’t think you were the marrying kind!). And though Saturn may bring you the lasting love you seek, you’ll have to work on yourself first by confronting issues of balance (for example: how well can you be an individual, even while you’re part of a couple?) and give-and-take (are you comfortable enough with where you’re at in life to be supportive of another person?).
And since Saturn takes about 29 years to complete an orbit, its move to Libra has even more significance for anyone who was born while Saturn was in Libra. As Saturn comes back to the zodiac sign it was in during your birth, you’ll experience what’s called your Saturn Return — a time of upheaval when you’ll have some tough, long-lasting decisions to make … specifically on Libra-related topics! Yes, this can mean marriage, divorce or starting a family, but you’ll definitely be challenged to find a better balance in your life.
