Saturn in Libra and David Letterman
November 4th, 2009 by Isha LernerWhen visiting New York recently I had the opportunity to see the David Letterman show live at the Ed Sullivan Theater. Aside from the high energy of the show, staff, and music, it was an auspicious time to see him because of the scandal brewing in David’s career and romantic life. I observed a rather shaky Dave, thinner in person, and tenderly pampered and supported by a staff, who, in all due respect, appear to adore him. My friend noted that the scenario resembled a family of dolphins who will gather underneath the body of a wounded dolphin and push it upward for air.
David Letterman is being offered the test of his life. He is no dummy; endowed with wit and super charisma, he is being given an inordinate amount of opportunities to do the right thing and change his course of behavior, mainly in the area of love and career. Here’s the astrological scoop:
Saturn has been transition Dave’s 5th house for the past two years. This transit puts love in the spotlight, along with children, creativity, and romance. Saturn’s in the 5th house reconstruct the area of joy in life and puts a dimension of hard work in association with love. Many people get ’serious’ about a relationship during this cycle and Dave decided it was time to finally marry the mother of his child and long time girlfriend. However, with Pluto, at 1 degree Capricorn, now crossing his natal Juno, (the asteroid representing marriage and commitment) the shadow of his infidelity has surfaced and his marriage is on the rocks. Soon, his natal Moon at 9 degrees Capricorn will also be transited by Pluto as well, a once in a lifetime aspect.
There is no question David Letterman will experience consequences regarding his past actions. The moon represents home, mother, our past, emotions, and our hidden unconscious. The consequences will force him to look at his values and truths, and push him toward, hopefully, a cleansing of guilt, shame and secrets.
With the completion of his Saturn moving through the 5th, David Letterman’s transiting Saturn is crossing into the 6th house. This natal house represents career, service, and health. Next year Saturn in Libra will cross his natal Neptune allowing him, if he can do it, to reconstruct his illusions about himself by looking at the disappointments he has brought to his family and the people he works with. With this transit his must look at Justice with a new perspective. He must do what is fair and just and dissolve the hidden agents of deception. Saturn will be working its way upward toward his decendant, the relaitonship point on the natal wheel. He has quite a bit of learning, lessons, and hard core one on one dealings to handle. In time, he will have to look straight into the mirror and figure out who he sees.
