Prince William (June 21, 1982)

This dashing royal is the picture of reserve, which makes him the quintessential Cancer. With the Crab as his symbol, it's plain to see "the stiff upper lip" come into play here; emotions are never readily apparent, and he has a protective outer shell. But with the Moon as his planet and water as his element, William has a deep emotional life, too -- which we can glimpse when he speaks about his mother or his longtime girlfriend, Kate Middleton.

Meryl Streep (June 22, 1949)

Famous for her layered performances, Meryl Streep is a true Cancer. She can play stoic, tapping into the "hard outer shell" her sign is famous for, or she can tap into the rich emotional life that dwells just below the surface. Cancers are ruled by the changing Moon, and with water as their element, have access to profound emotional depths. No wonder she's an Academy Award winner!

Tobey Maguire (June 27, 1975)

As Spiderman, Tobey Maguire plays a man who must deny his true love in order to protect her. This is truly Cancer -- the constant battle between deep emotion and self-protection. That's probably why this Water sign makes for an excellent actor, too. Tobey plays "misunderstood" so sweetly, because hiding under that hard shell, we know there are beautiful emotional depths.

Mike Tyson (June 30, 1966)

Cancers are more famous for their protective outer shells than for aggression, but it makes sense that Mike Tyson is a crab. Crabs have to find a way to protect themselves, and often, instead of retreating, they believe that a good defense is the best offense. This fits Mike Tyson's philosophy to a T!

Pamela Anderson (July 1, 1967)

Like her Baywatch co-star and fellow Cancer David Hasselhoff, beach beauty Pamela Anderson has become famous for her impressive physique, even while dealing with inner pain, the infidelity of her husband, rocker Tommy Lee, and her battle with Hepatitis. But pulling it all together is a mark of a true Cancer, and Pamela has maintained an impressive public life despite adversity.

Liv Tyler (July 1, 1977)

Cancers are known for being fiercely loyal to those they love, and this sense of burning devotion has characterized many of Liv's roles, including elf princess Arwin in the Lord of the Rings trilogy and Grace in Armageddon. She has also remained loyal to her father, rocker Steven Tyler, despite not knowing he was her father until she was nine years old.

Lindsay Lohan (July 2, 1986)

Lindsay Lohan's ruling planet is the Moon, which governs emotional cycles, so Lohan is destined to experience the tides of life much more strongly than many of her other co-stars. As a Cancer, her natural element is the water and her natural state is one of heavy emotion. This is excellent for acting, but it makes growing up in Hollywood that much harder!

Tom Cruise (July 3, 1962)

The changing Moon is Tom Cruise's ruling planet, which means the man is destined to have mood swings and bursts of passion, along with emotion that occasionally goes on public display. That's why this formerly reserved Hollywood actor may have become more open lately about his romance with wife Katie Holmes and his devotion to the Church of Scientology.

Ringo Starr (July 7, 1940)

It's fitting that Ringo Starr was the Beatle who wrote "Octopus's Garden" -- as a Cancer, his element is the water, and much of his inspiration comes from emotional depths similar to those in the ocean. As the Fab Four's reliable drummer, Starr kept up his Crab credibility: a hard, protective outer shell, hiding the rich emotional life inside.

Tom Hanks (July 9, 1956)

As a leading man, Tom Hanks seems especially in touch with his emotions, but he's able to filter them into an always-endearing, often comedic persona. This is so Cancerian of him -- he can play indifferent on the outside, gooey and caring on the inside, as he did in A League of Their Own or The Da Vinci Code.

Jessica Simpson (July 10, 1980)

While many Cancers seem restrained, Jessica Simpson is the opposite -- she makes her typical Cancerian mood swings a public matter! With the Moon as her ruling planet, Jessica's emotional tides are especially strong. Luckily, she's managed to channel them into music, reality TV and acting.

Harrison Ford (July 13, 1942)

Perhaps it's his smoldering secrecy that makes Harrison Ford such an engaging leading man. As Indiana Jones, he beats insurmountable odds -- and repeatedly cheats death -- all while keeping it together. Cancers are infamous for their ability to weather emotional tides while keeping a stiff upper lip.

Robin Williams (July 21, 1951)

This man is as known for his dynamic comedy style as he is for his measured performances in serious roles. That's because as a Water sign, Cancers experience the rising and falling of the tides, and with the Moon as a ruling planet, they are in touch with the emotional realm. That's also why Robin Williams is equally believable as a grown-up Peter Pan and Mrs. Doubtfire.

David Hasselhoff (July 17, 1952)

Tough on the outside, sensitive on the inside -- that's a typical Cancer for you. And that's Baywatch alum David Hasselhoff's persona onscreen and off; despite his hunky appeal and muscle-ripped demeanor, it was recently revealed that Hasselhoff has battled alcohol addiction for a number of years.
