David Bowie (January 8, 1947)

It might seem strange to think of airy David Bowie as an Earth sign ... until you realize that he's a Capricorn. Capricorns excel at appearing reckless, when there's actually a lot of thought and rehearsal behind seemingly spontaneous activity. Bowie may seem of another world, but his skills as a musician prove that he is one sure-footed Capricorn.

Jude Law (December 29, 1972)

Capricorns make great leading men. That's because, under the sign of the Mountain Goat, they are reliable and focused. Jude Law's starring roles are almost always men with great strength of character and determination, and, like Jude, they're often down-to-earth.

Amanda Peet (January 11, 1972)

This savvy, intelligent actress can play sexpot, but she can also play calculating or sweet. A sure-footed Capricorn, she is a dependable performer, balancing brains and beauty, and has plotted her course through Hollywood with the determination of her symbol, the Mountain Goat.

Jim Carrey (January 17, 1962)

The rubber-faced man might appear spontaneous, but he is an earthy Capricorn. His meteoric rise in comedy actually began with film appearances dating back to 1980, but just like his sign's symbol, the Mountain Goat, Carrey had to remain steadfast and sure-footed during his climb to the top.

Tiger Woods (December 30, 1975)

It takes a lot of training and determination to become the biggest name in golf, so it's no surprise that Tiger Woods is a Capricorn, whose symbol, the Mountain Goat, is known for traversing steep trails and coming out on top. As agile creatures, Capricorns can often stay at the top, too, which would explain this boy wonder's continuing success on the green.

Eddie Vedder (December 23, 1964)

This alternative rocker is a Capricorn, pragmatic and always testing limitations. This came to play when his band, Pearl Jam, threw itself into the grunge movement, and when Vedder used his popularity as a musician to stump for causes and presidential candidates he believed in, like Ralph Nader in 2000.

Denzel Washington (December 28, 1954)

Even when he's playing a bad guy, there's an undeniable morality about Denzel Washington that makes him compelling to watch. That's because, as an earthy Capricorn, he is both grounded and steady. With the Goat as his astrological symbol, very little can deter Washington from picking a solid film choice, or playing his role with charm.

Kate Bosworth (January 2, 1983)

She may be a glamour queen now, but Bosworth started out as an athlete. Her earthy Capricorn sign lends itself well to sports where agility and balance are required, so it's no surprise that Kate Bosworth is an accomplished equestrian. As an Earth sign, she connects well with horses and other animals -- good thing, because her skills led her to appear in The Horse Whisperer, which launched her exciting career in film.

Nicolas Cage (January 7, 1964)

With a Mountain Goat as his sign's symbol, Capricorn Nicolas Cage was bound to find success in acting, but it would take persistence. From a minute-long role in Fast Times at Ridgemont High to a resume that contains cult classics and blockbuster hits, this son of Hollywood royalty (his uncle is director Francis Ford-Coppola) found success in Hollywood on his own terms.

Orlando Bloom (January 11, 1972)

Very little can deter a goat from its path, so it's fitting that the Mountain Goat is star Orlando Bloom's astrological symbol. This Capricorn exhibited his can-do dependability when he fell off a horse, broke a rib and still continued filming Lord of the Rings. His ascent to the top of Hollywood stardom has been fast -- his first small role on screen was in '97!

Steven Soderbergh (January 14, 1963)

This renowned director has found fame with bigger-budget pics, but he began his career struggling to get his oddball films made (and he continues to push the experimental envelope in film-making). This is true Capricorn grit: charge ahead, build doors where none existed before, and get to the top of that mountain.
