Learn how to put a spell on him

The art of casting spells, or, as we like to call it, white magic, is all about focusing on your desires, drawing the world's energy together, and setting it loose to make your dreams come true. It's one of the most powerful of the divinatory arts.

You may be surprised at how widely white magic is used today. Perhaps the reason why it's so popular is that it makes the world a better place. Its very premise is "Do no harm." That's the first thing that little witches learn. Every time you cast a spell, the spell must spell good in the world. And what spells good better than l-o-v-e?

The Voodoo That You Do

OK, so you've set your sights on a cutie pie. You've decided that this is the one you want. Now it's time to make it so. As we said above, white magic is pretty potent stuff. It's not something to be taken lightly. Even if you've taken the "do no harm" oath, you're dealing with delicate yet powerful energetic forces. So be careful. However, we have to stress that while white magic is powerful, it can't change what isn't meant to be. If he's not into you, you can't use white magic to make him like you. Sorry, ladies. But if he is into you and just doesn't know it yet, you can speed up the process. If he's shy, you can help to draw him out of his shell. If he's not sexed up enough for your taste, you can turn on the cosmic Viagra. If he's lying, you can find out, and then dump him promptly. Further down the line, if he's thinking about asking you to marry him, you can use white magic to seal the deal. White magic may not be the great equalizer, but it can be the great accelerator when used in the right way.

Keep in mind that the most important element of white magic is creative visualization. If you can visualize what you want, you'll find it easier to gather the energy together to make it happen. Some of us excel at the art of visualization. The rest of us may be a little challenged. If you're not in the God-given talent club, prepare to practice a bit.

She's Crafty

Every spell session calls for a state of deep introspection and meditation, or at least as much as you can manage in the midst of extreme dating anxiety. Try to breathe, breathe and breathe some more. Find yourself a quiet room. Turn off the phone, the computer and the TV. Then let the magic begin.

Spell Scheduling

Spells can be done any day of the week, but love spells work best on 1) Fridays (the day of Venus); 2) when the Moon is in Libra or Taurus (both ruled by Venus); and 3) during a waxing Moon in the sign of the potential lover in question. Scorpio Moons are great for sex spells, FYI. You can always cast a spell when you feel the need, but the universe will throw you an extra bone if you plan in accordance with the planets.

Altars

Witches really dig their altars. But these setups don't need to be chock-a-block with tchotchkes and knickknacks. Altars are simply sacred spaces created for practicing rituals. In white magic, outdoor spaces are often used. But if you're stuck inside, just find a table, desk or other area where you feel comfortable working magic. It's lovely to sit in front of an open widow where you can see the Moon and the stars, and tune into their energy.

If you want to create your own semi-permanent mini-altar, there are dozens of ways to personalize it. You can use it to store common ritual tools, such as candles, matches, notebooks for recording spells (also called the "Book of Shadows"), or any object that has meaning for you. You may want to keep a vase full of fresh flowers as an offering to the higher spirit of your choice.
