In the late 70s, a ragtag group of remedial students called the Sweathogs stole America's hearts every week on TV. The show had everything -- humor, a drool-worthy young John Travolta as Vinnie Barbarino, and a teacher who sincerely believed in his students. What did Mr. Kotter see in Vinnie, Juan Epstein, Freddie "Boom Boom" Washington and Arnold Horshack that no one else did? Numerology has the answers. Using expert numerologist Hans Decoz's revealing Name Advisor, we take a look at some of the more memorable characters from Welcome Back Kotter.

Gabe Kotter
The name Gabe Kotter is dominated by the numbers 5, 8 and 6.
This is the name of someone who can do anything. His Dominant Impression Number -- or the number of his most strongly felt influence -- is 5, which gives him flexibility combined with sharp intuition and even sharper intelligence. He's also youthful, dynamic and energetic. People with a strong number 5 want to shake things up, preferring to try something new and different over sticking with the tried and true.
The vowels in Gabe's name represent a visionary, full of courage and determination. And the Base Vibration of the name -- the tone and rhythm -- is warm and caring. It gives others a sense of confidence and inspires them to unload their burdens. It also represents healing and protection.
Who better to teach the "unteachable?" Most teachers wouldn't have the patience for a difficult crew like the Sweathogs, but Gabe Kotter has the perfect blend of creativity and compassion required not only to recognize their potential, but to help them realize it.
And speaking of the Sweathogs …
Vinnie Barbarino
The name Vinnie Barbarino is dominated by the numbers 9, 4 and 5.
This name attracts respect, support and devoted fans. On the positive side, the number 9 represents someone with a ton of charisma and love for all mankind. On the negative side, Vinnie's name is also the name of someone who is very naïve. The Base Vibration attracts people who are eccentric, artistic or just don't fit in anywhere else. This explains why -- in addition to Vinnie's legion of female fans -- he had the loyal following of the rest of the Sweathogs.
Vinnie's Hidden Potential:
Someone dominated by these numbers has a nervous energy that, when controlled and focused, can result in fame and fortune. In order to succeed, though, Vinnie will need to learn discipline and focus.
Juan Epstein
The name Juan Epstein is dominated by the numbers 8, 5 and 3.
This name reflects a conqueror, someone who devours the weak. It's a name of power and strength. A dominant 8 is competitive, and not afraid of anything. The bad news? It also means Juan can lack compassion and be self-destructive. It's not hard to see why he was considered one of the toughest kids in school and voted "Most likely to take a life" by his classmates. The vowels in his name reflect someone unpredictable, but with an enhanced ability to communicate and think clearly in a crisis. Who better to keep himself out of trouble with forced notes from "Epstein's mother?"
Juan's Hidden Potential:
Juan's got a lucky streak, which could open the door to many opportunities. His energy is scattered, though, and while he may start out great, he doesn't have the motivation to keep up the momentum. He'll need to learn the art of follow-through.

Freddie "Boom Boom" Washington
The name Freddie "Boom Boom" Washington is dominated by the numbers 1, 5 and 5.
This is the name of someone with a lot of drive. The energy behind it is strong and forceful, and promotes an innovative approach to things. Highly-focused and self-reliant, Freddie's name carries with it an unmistakable "can do" attitude. He has confidence and strength. This name is good for competitive ventures, which may explain why he was such a superstar on the basketball court. He shares a Vowel Vibration with Juan and a base Vibration with Vinnie, which could explain why they all got along so well. The vowels in Freddie's name also represent someone with good physical and mental reflexes, which could explain both his athletic prowess and why he was often the voice of reason among the Sweathogs.
Freddie's Hidden Potential:
Freddie's name gives him the belief that anything is possible. Because of this, he's willing to take risks. These are both good things, of course. He's negatively affected by pride, though, and may not be able to admit when he makes mistakes and change course. If he can learn to overcome that, then anything really is possible.
Arnold Horshack
The name Arnold Horshack is dominated by the numbers 3, 5 and 7.
This name is optimistic and enthusiastic. It's cheerful and outgoing. Arnold's name also carries with it a strong sense of humor. Remember who was the class clown? If you guessed 'Arnold,' you guessed right. On the positive side, it makes him a creative, capable communicator. On the negative side, he may seem scattered and unreliable. He shares his Vowel Vibration with both Freddie and Juan, which could explain why Vinnie became the leader of the Sweathogs while they were all content to remain followers. Arnold's Base Vibration radiates mystery. It makes him seem alien, hard to get to know and withdrawn. He probably felt comfortable being himself around his fellow hogs, but it may explain why, after being the only Sweathog to be promoted out of the remedial class, he felt out of place and came back.
Arnold's Hidden Potential:
To put it mildly, Arnold always had some unique observations about the world around him. If he can learn to focus his energy, he can find creative ways to solve problems -- approaches that perhaps no one's ever thought of before.
