Ready to learn about the "elements" of you? Click through to the next chapter!

Before we get into the details, we're going to look at the broadest categories in your birth chart: the elements. The four elements -- fire, earth, air and water -- are the fundamental building blocks of the universe. They're also the building blocks of your birth chart! Each zodiac sign is associated with one of the elements, and all of the signs of the same element share certain basic characteristics. For example, fire signs -- Aries, Leo and Sagittarius -- are typically enthusiastic, action-oriented and driven.
Weak vs. Strong Elements: In this chapter, we refer to the elements you are "strong" in and the elements you are "weak" in. Whether you are strong, weak or balanced in an element is determined by the number of planets you have in the signs of each element. For example, if you have several planets in earth signs -- Taurus, Virgo and Capricorn -- then you are strong in earth. If you have very few planets in water signs -- Cancer, Scorpio and Pisces -- then you are weak in water.
Typically, people are strong in one or two elements, and weak in others. If you're aware of your elemental make-up, you can make the most of strong areas and watch out for problems in the weak areas. Remember, though, that the elements offer only a broad overview. As you read on, you'll learn how these characteristics are affected or even overshadowed by other things occurring in your birth chart.

You are often so enthusiastically involved in your projects, so intent on taking action and making something happen, that you do not take adequate time to reflect and to gain a sense of objectivity or detached awareness about what you are doing. Furthermore, you are apt to override or ignore anyone who raises reasonable questions about what you are doing. You rarely ask advice or take advantage of others' feedback.
Cooperating and participating in the give and take of a relationship between equals don't come easily to you, and you are more comfortable in relationships where one person is clearly more superior or dominant (chief-subordinate, teacher-pupil, parent-child, etc.). You also have trouble understanding and communicating with people whose interests and approach toward life differ from your own, for you tend to view differences as a conflict or threat.
You need to develop a capacity to appreciate differences and to be objective in regard to yourself.
Find out how to "shine your light" in the next chapter …

Now that you understand the balance of elements in your birth chart, let's turn to the planets, starting with the most important one of all: the Sun. When someone asks, "What's your sign?" they're asking about your Sun Sign. As you'll see, there's much more to Astrology than just your Sun Sign -- it's only one piece of the cosmic puzzle. But as the "planet" around which everything else revolves, the Sun is considered the most significant feature of your birth chart.
For simplicity's sake, each of the astrological features of your birth chart are called planets, even things like the Sun, Moon, Ascendant and others. Each of the planets represents a different aspect of who you are; the Sun, for instance, represents your core self. The Sun's sign and house show how you "shine your light" -- your vitality, creativity and even your work. When you express the qualities of your Sun in a positive way, you "light up" and feel confident, happy and energized.

Your self-centeredness combines with your expansive, freewheeling style (described below) to make you a dynamo of energy and very enthusiastic in your pursuits. Others feel that you sometimes come on too strong, and you can be overly zealous in trying to convince others of the worth of some product, philosophy or other interest in your life. Overall though, your liveliness and enthusiasm are wonderful gifts that everyone appreciates.

You are a gambler and an adventurer at heart, one who loves to take risks, to discover and explore new worlds, and to take the untried path rather than the safe, reliable one. You are an independent soul, freedom-loving, and often very restless. You need a lifestyle that provides opportunities for travel, movement, change and meeting new people. A steady routine, which offers much in the way of security but little in the way of space and freedom, is odious to you.
To you, life is a journey, an adventure, endlessly interesting and rich with possibilities, and it may be difficult for you to decide where to focus your attention and efforts. You probably traveled around and experimented with many different paths before you settled on a particular career. Or you may go from one project to the next, for once the challenge and vital interest is gone, you are very quick to move on. Commitment, discipline, focus and concentration are not your strong points. You can be irresponsible and disinclined to take on the burdens and limitations of adult life.
An incurable optimist, you have big dreams, aspirations, and hopes for the future and are usually pursuing some distant goal. You have a great deal of faith and trust in life and failures don't crush your spirit. You always bounce back from disappointments, often with another bright dream or scheme. You have a sporting, playful attitude toward life and are philosophical about your mistakes. You have the ability to sense future trends, to see the big picture, and you like to theorize and speculate. However, attending to all of the details and practical requirements of implementing your theories is bothersome to you.
You express yourself in a very open, direct, and straightforward manner and are often blunt and tactless as well. Because you do not take yourself too seriously, you may not realize how deeply your candid statements can wound more sensitive souls. In fact, though you may not realize it, your insensitivity and lack of understanding regarding others' feelings is probably one of your worst faults.
You do enjoy friendship and camaraderie, but you need freedom also and do not do well with a possessive, clinging, or emotionally demanding partner. You are quite generous yourself, and heartily dislike pettiness in others. Someone who shares your ideals, your sense of fun and your zest for life would be the right companion for you.

You have a very dramatic, creative, expressive nature and you love to perform. You enjoy being the center of attention and you seek to shine, to excel and to be outstanding in some unique way. You are very involved in your own creativity and self-expression, and take great pleasure in developing and using your special talents, whether these are artistic, athletic, or intellectual. You have a strong sense of pride.
Sun Sextile Pluto: You undergo deep, transformative changes in your life with relative ease and a minimum of conscious resistance. Because you don't avoid the depths, you have access to a lot of personal power and strength. Without realizing it or seeking it, you're apt to have quite a potent effect on the people you come into contact with, even superficially. Others sense that you're a force to be reckoned with.
In the next chapter, you'll learn about aspects, as well as what you seem like to other people …

While the Sun symbolizes your essential self, the Rising sign -- or Ascendant -- represents the part of yourself that the rest of the world sees. Your Rising sign describes your outer personality, appearance, general outlook on life, and how you take action. Think of it as the mask that you wear when you head out into the world. As you discovered in the previous chapter, your Rising sign may match up well with your Sun sign -- meaning that people easily see the "real you" -- or may oppose it, meaning that your mask hides some of your true identity from others. When a planet is connected to your Ascendant (or any other planet) at a specific angle, that angle is called an aspect. Some aspects are soft, meaning that the qualities of the two planets come together smoothly and harmoniously. Other aspects are hard, meaning that the qualities are at odds with one another and may create tension or conflict. Neither is inherently good or bad … after all, sometimes harmony lets us fall into ruts, and sometimes conflict is just what we need to move forward in life.

Ferociously proud and somewhat vain, you like to be impressive and to be seen as somebody special. You are not timid, meek or self-effacing, and are rarely content being in the background or in the subordinate position. You are a natural leader, and do not take orders from others very well. You must have something of your own, something creative -- be it a business, a club, a home or a hobby -- that you can develop and manage according to your own will and vision. Whatever you do, you do it in a unique, dramatic, individual way. You like to put your own personal stamp on it.
You also have a very strong sense of dignity, self-respect and personal honor, and are deeply offended if someone treats you in a humiliating or dishonorable way. You will rarely confront the offender -- you are too proud to do so -- but you will lose your affection and respect for them. You dislike pettiness and hate to be snubbed or ignored.
You admire others who are strong individuals like yourself. When you befriend someone, you are tremendously loyal, sincere and willing to go to extraordinary lengths to make that person happy. You are very giving and generous, but your gifts are never anonymous -- you expect recognition and appreciation for them. You also expect the intense loyalty that you offer to your dear ones to be reciprocated. However, you often have trouble working with people who are as strong as yourself, for you do not really cooperate or share the leading role very easily. If you are not in the leading role, you aspire to be and will compete with the person who is.
You have great heart and courage, and people often look to you for strength, encouragement and affirmation. You always have your best face forward and rarely allow others to see you hurting, disheartened, or vulnerable. You also have a very strong need for love, admiration, appreciation and praise, although you don't like others to realize just how important it is to you.
Your outlook on life tends to be very personal and rather self-centered. Your own self-expression, self-actualization and self-realization interest you more than anything else. You feel that if you do your best where you are, the rest of the world will take care of itself.
Moon in Leo Conjunct Ascendant in Leo: You have a sunny disposition that usually elicits a warm response from others. You are a wonderful entertainer and you have a gift for putting others in a good mood.
Sun Trine Ascendant: You radiate a sense of pride, self-assurance, and a definite awareness of your own importance. It is hard to ignore you when you are present, and your personality may overshadow or dominate the scene.
Uranus Square Ascendant: You seem quirky, unusual, offbeat and "different". Sometimes it seems you are trying to provoke people and upset the status quo just by being yourself. You tend to be restless, excitable, and somewhat ungrounded or nervous as well.
Neptune Trine Ascendant: There is an air of universal sympathy, gentleness and nonjudgmental acceptance about you that draws people in need to you. Because you have a good deal of intuitive insight or psychic perceptiveness, you're able to say or do just the right thing for them. You need to beware of fostering dependency in those people, however.
Pluto Sextile Ascendant: You have penetrating insight into people and a keen eye and ear for the hidden, unspoken, behind-the-scenes elements in life. You may seem intense and make other people a bit uncomfortable at times. There is also a sexual quality in your manner which can be quite alluring, in a subtle way.
Continue to the next chapter to get acquainted with your inner, unconscious self.

Along with your Sun and Rising Sign, the Moon -- the "planet" closest to Earth -- is also a very significant part of your birth chart. The mysterious and ever-changing Moon rules your feminine side: your emotions, your needs and your intuition. The Moon's position and aspects help you understand what you need from others and what makes you feel safe, supported and secure.
While the Sun represents your conscious self -- who you think you are -- the Moon works on a subconscious level. You may not be as aware of the Moon's influence in your life because it's a part of you that operates automatically. When you're on "auto-pilot," you are most likely acting out the qualities of your Moon.

Warm, loving, and generous in your affections, you inspire tremendous devotion and loyalty in your loved ones. This is good, since you would never settle for anything less! You want to be adored and worshipped like the king or queen that you feel you are, and it is difficult for anyone to resist the warmth and attention you lavish on those you care about. You have a great deal of pride and need to be recognized and appreciated. The way to really hurt your feelings is to ignore you. You are genuine, sincere, and have a strong sense of personal integrity. You hate emotional games and dishonesty.

Your own feelings and emotions are something of an enigma to you, and it is often difficult for you to share with others what you are feeling.
You frequently withdraw from contact with the world, and need a healing, peaceful environment in order to blossom and come out of yourself.
You identify with the oppressed, disenfranchised or underdog in any situation and want to help them or care for them in some way.
Moon Square Uranus: You crave excitement, change and discovery, and cannot tolerate a routine or lifestyle that offers little in the way of surprise or challenge. Excitable, spontaneous, and enthusiastic about anything new, you may be perceived by others as being too impulsive, especially in personal relationships. It is not easy for you to make or keep commitments, since you don't know how you will be feeling from one day to the next. Emotional freedom is very important to you. Your domestic life can be very unstable -but you like it that way.
Moon Trine Neptune: The beauty and harmony of your surroundings has a very powerful effect on your emotions. You are very sensitive and cannot stand to be in an atmosphere where there is discord or dissonance. Gentle, kindhearted, and peace-loving, you will give or sacrifice much in order to avoid a fight and to "make everyone happy".
Moon Sextile Pluto: You have very deep feelings and profound attachments to people you care about. Your relationship to your mother, sisters, daughters and other females in your life is apt to be incredibly close and intense. You may be easily manipulated too, when it comes to one of these important relationships, because you're so emotionally invested in it.
Your personality may have many sides, but how you express them in your friendships and relationships is just as important. The next chapter tells you more.

From the feeling nature of the Moon we now turn to the realm of the mind -- represented by Mercury. Because Mercury travels closest to the Sun, it has a shorter and faster orbit than the other planets. For this reason, the ancients associated Mercury with the wing-footed messenger god, called Hermes by the Greeks. Mercury's position and aspects show you how your mind works -- how you think and learn -- as well as how you communicate those thoughts to others.
You may begin to notice that some aspects seem to have more written about them, or have more intense descriptions. This is because some aspects (like Conjunctions, Squares and Oppositions) are considered stronger or more powerful than others (like Sextiles or Quincunxes).

You possess vision and foresight, and your mind is often occupied with big ideas, plans and goals for the future. You are interested in what is possible and what is on the horizon, rather than what has already been done. The study of philosophy, religion, politics or education is of interest to you, and you are more concerned with theories and concepts than with specific applications. You are not inclined to focus on any one practical, concrete area; you find it irksome to deal with details and particulars. You have a gambling instinct and enjoy speculative enterprises and new ventures. Business, advertising and promotion would be good areas for you also.

You have an introspective turn of mind and may enjoy keeping a journal or a record of your dreams and personal experiences, or learning about psychology, history, and the inner workings and emotional foundations of your own life. You are studious and something of a bookworm.
Mercury Trine Jupiter: You have an ongoing interest in learning and expanding your mental horizons. You enjoy traveling, philosophical discussions, and exchanging ideas with those of different experiences and viewpoints. Broad-minded and fair, you are well-suited to law, consulting, diplomatic relations, and also business. You learn quickly, and can pick up on a new idea or concept with relative ease.
Now that you know how your feeling self reacts to things, continue to the next chapter to take a look at how your thinking self works.

The next planet in the solar system is named after Venus, goddess of love and beauty. Venus reveals how you relate to others -- the kinds of people you are attracted to, the kinds of people who are attracted to you, and your unique way of experiencing love. Venus helps us realize what kinds of interpersonal relationships we need to feel happy and fulfilled. At a more basic level, Venus also describes what gives us pleasure.
Throughout your birth report, you will find that many planets overlap in terms of what they focus on. For instance, the Moon and Venus are similar in that they both have to do with the feminine realm of feelings and relationships. But while the Moon is more family-oriented and maternal, Venus is more about romantic and intimate partners.

In love, you desire a deep, intense, passionate union with your beloved and form very strong emotional bonds and attachments. You "marry" the person you love at a very deep emotional level, and are often extremely possessive and jealous of any threat to that union. You can be very demanding with your love partner. You tend to be somewhat suspicious of even platonic, friendly relationships your partner has. If you are ever betrayed, you are capable of hating with as much force and intensity as you once loved. You are attracted to people who have an aura of mystery about them.

A warm, loving, and comfortable home is very important to you and you invest a lot of your energy into beautifying, decorating and creating a lovely home. Also, you share your affection with the people in your family very generously and having close family ties is a major priority for you. Being at home makes you happy.
Moon Square Venus: You have conflicting emotional desires and needs which complicate your personal life. You may feel that you cannot depend on your love partner to take care of you or perhaps you cannot decide what you really want in a love relationship: a parent or a lover. If your needs for emotional sustenance and love are not satisfied, overeating (especially sweets) can be a problem for you.
Venus Square Jupiter: You share freely whatever you have, and your friends know they can always count on your generosity and support, both emotional and material. Your good-hearted acceptance and tolerance of others' foibles goes a long way in maintaining harmony in your relationships. You also have a lazy streak and sometimes avoid confronting difficult issues in relationships simply because it seems like too much trouble and too petty. You like to socialize and will use any excuse to celebrate with friends. You cannot tolerate too much restriction by your love partner, and encourage your partner's freedom as well.
Venus aspects both Jupiter and Saturn: Your pleasure-loving nature and your emotional and material generosity discussed above are counterbalanced by a certain caution or restraint in expressing your affection, and by a fear of heartache. At times you are likely to be the jovial, friendly, rather extravagant person mentioned previously, but at other times you are far more contained as described here. Because you are upbeat and fun-loving, people probably do not suspect how sensitive you are to being left out or unappreciated.
Venus Sextile Saturn: In love and romance, it's important for you to be able to deeply respect your partner. You look beyond the superficial qualities to see their inner worth (or lack thereof), before you let yourself really fall for someone. In fact, too much glamour or flashiness is something of a turn-off to you. You are capable of a mature, lasting loving relationship and seek a mate who is deep, loyal and committed. You may be drawn to someone older than yourself.
Venus aspects both Saturn and Uranus: When it comes to love, you are apt to feel pulled in several directions at once. In addition to your desire for depth and for security in your relationships, you have an impulsive side and need a lot of variety and excitement, as discussed in the following paragraphs. These urges do not have to conflict, but they certainly can, especially if you act on your spontaneous impulses without much consideration for their long-term effects on your personal life.
Venus Conjunct Uranus: You are excitable, spontaneous and easily aroused emotionally and sexually. You fall in love very quickly and have little self-restraint or concern for propriety when your feelings have been stirred. However, it may be difficult for you to sustain a relationship after the first rush of excitement wanes, especially if your partner is basically a conservative person who does not like to change or experiment. Nontraditional relationships appeal to you, and personal freedom is highly important to you.
Your approach to love is a key part of your life, but so are your approaches to work, play and life in general. Continue to the next chapter to learn more.

We now move from the feminine symbol of Venus to the masculine symbol of Mars, the God of War. Mars is the first planet beyond Earth in the solar system. It represents your independent and active side -- the way that you approach life outside of your personal relationships. This can mean anything from how you behave at your job to what sports or activities you pursue to how you go about your daily life.
You may find interpretations in this chapter that contradict what you read in other chapters; this is a natural aspect of Astrology, because we ourselves are walking contradictions! Often, when you read astrological statements that seem like opposites, it means that you either struggle with those two parts of your personality or that you lean one way in certain situations and a completely different way in others.

You are serious about your ambitions, and disciplined, dedicated, and tenacious in pursuing your objectives. Your drive and energy are directed toward practical material accomplishment and achieving concrete results. You also strive to be in a position of authority and social influence; you enjoy being the person who is in command.
You are hard-working and capable of foregoing immediate comfort in order to achieve your long-range goals. You can easily become a workaholic and are very responsible and conscientious about doing a thorough job.
Realistic and pragmatic, you are an excellent strategist. You attain success by formulating a conservative and workable plan and following through with it. You are not a gambler when it comes to attaining your goals; you depend on your own efforts and perseverance rather than good fortune. You have a natural shrewdness and instinct for business or organizational management.

You play vigorously and enjoy competitive games and physical rough-and-tumble activities. Athletics and/or physical activities have great appeal for you. You take the initiative in sports and also in romance: you are ardent in pursuing ANYTHING you desire.
So far in your report, you've learned quite a bit about your thoughts, feelings and behaviors. In the next chapter, you'll learn about something more tangible: your strengths, goals and accomplishments in life.

Heading past Mars and the asteroid belt, we meet Jupiter, the king of the gods. Jupiter -- also known as Zeus -- was given this high honor because of its huge size, several times larger than the next biggest planet.
Jupiter traditionally represents good luck and success. Looking at Jupiter in your birth chart is a good way to explore your strengths and figure out what kind of work you would enjoy. Complementing Jupiter, meanwhile, is your Midheaven. The Midheaven is the highest point in your chart, representing your ambitions, career, fame, and recognition in the public eye … if there were a play about your life, think of your Midheaven as center stage.

You cannot tolerate smallness or pettiness in any form, and you have a tendency to exaggerate. Also, you have a wonderful sense of drama! You must live boldly and heroically. Otherwise you feel you are simply existing and wasting your talents.
The desire for personal recognition -- or even Fame -- and a need to do something you feel really proud of, motivate you strongly. You have an unusual capacity for fun and playfulness also.

You are drawn to social work, the ministry, giving your time and energy to charitable organizations, or to serving and helping the disadvantaged in some way. Your generosity and unselfishness will bring you and others much good.

Moon Square Midheaven: You may have to overcome something in your background or personal past in order to achieve your long-range goals and ambitions. Sometimes you're apt to feel pulled in two different directions -- what others expect of you or what you need to do to progress, versus what your old conditioning or your emotional predisposition would have you do. Overcoming the pull of the past is the key.
Venus Opposition Midheaven: Your desire for a beautiful home, a comfortable, pleasing lifestyle, and time to relax and enjoy yourself may well be the motivation for going out into the world and trying to achieve outward success. You may seesaw at times between your professional drives and desire for status, and the appeal of a rich personal life and home comforts.
Jupiter Square Midheaven: You have grand aspirations and may be inordinately ambitious at times. That is, you're apt to be discontent with small successes and to feel like a failure unless you achieve extraordinary things. Avoid get-rich-quick schemes that promise tremendous returns for little energy expenditure. Even if they do seem to succeed, your ideals and values could be compromised.
Saturn Trine Midheaven: Discipline, concentration, a realistic sense of what is attainable, and steady dedication to achieving your ambitions are the keys to your progress. You're apt to move slowly but constantly in the direction of your goals, and solid achievement is the outcome of this conservative approach.
Uranus Opposition Midheaven: In order to achieve your ambitions in life you may well feel that you must make a significant break from your personal past, especially the influences of your childhood environment, your family, or familial traditions. You're apt to be the black sheep, or the one who left home and never really returned.
What you want to do in life may seem "off the wall" or "way out in left field" to some people.
Now that you have a better understanding of your strengths, it's time to learn how you may need to use them in life …

Like the Midheaven, Saturn has a lot to do with your life's work and ambitions. But Saturn is also considered a "heavy" influence, showing where you are tested -- the lessons and challenges you have to tackle in order to achieve success.
Slow-moving Saturn was seen as the old man of the solar system who, as Kronos or "Father Time," teaches patience and endurance. Saturn shows both where you can go to extremes and express a trait too strongly, and where you can fail to take action because of fear or insecurity.

You have a penchant for order and precision, and an almost compulsive attention to detail. You are often hypercritical and can be such a demanding perfectionist that you discourage yourself or others from even attempting something that won't be done exactly the way you know it should be done.
You frequently over analyze or pick things apart mentally. You may be something of a hypochondriac also. You must learn that you do not have to rationally understand everything in order for it to be valid, and also to relax your unnecessarily high or strict standards.

You have a mature, disciplined, serious attitude toward life which colors everything you do. Caution and realism are your virtues though you limit yourself at times by being too careful, shy, or fearful, and not believing in yourself enough or being assertive when necessary. Others find you difficult to get to know intimately, as you tend to distance yourself from them or to put forth a rather stern, "adult" face to the world.
Saturn Square Neptune: You strive and struggle a great deal with your ideals or spiritual aspirations. You may go through periods of self-denial, asceticism, and serious study of religious philosophy and spiritual practices, or you may lose heart and become cynical about religious ideals, but never quite divorce yourself completely from your idealistic concerns.
Saturn Sextile Uranus: In meeting your challenges and difficulties in life, you have allies: your ability to tolerate tension and ambivalence, your ability to compromise, and a capacity to endure discomfort. Remaining steady in the midst of crisis or sudden change is an aspect of this, as well as knowing when to wait and when to make necessary changes. Your timing is usually good.
When we're under stress, we instinctively slip into certain habits and patterns of behavior. In Astrology, this "survival mode" is represented by the South Node of the Moon, which shows the path of least resistance that you're likely to take. However, your instincts in these situations aren't necessarily good for you. The North Node of the Moon, by contrast, shows you a healthier, more balanced direction for dealing with stress. The North Node is what we focus on below; your challenge is to use this insight to let go of old unhealthy habits and embrace a new way of coping with problems.

Your natural instinct, especially when under stress, is to passively flow along with whatever is easiest, not clearly analyzing or assessing your situation and perhaps even trying to escape seeing your situation clearly by indulging in fantasies, intoxicants, and the like. Dreaminess and impracticality, being unfocused and undefined (at least in certain areas) are ways you cope with stress. You also have trouble setting boundaries and saying no.
Your path of development lies in cultivating discrimination and clarity, becoming more precise, developing technical and practical skills that will enable you to function more efficiently in the world. Finding a way to be of practical service is also important.

The arena you are most likely to wrestle with these issues is in your dealings with money, financial security, tangible assets and possessions. The qualities described above are ones you need to integrate in tangible ways: how you make a living, building assets and a secure material base, what you do with the resources you have. Try to avoid over involvement or entanglements with other people's money matters, legal business and personal affairs.
If you can learn to face your challenges and fears, you may be able to lead your generation in making the world a better place. Or perhaps you'll go "against the grain" to show your peers a better way of doing things. Continue to the next chapter to find out!

The outer planets -- Uranus, Neptune and Pluto -- travel far beyond Saturn and can only be seen with a telescope. Since they move so slowly, they remain in the same sign for several years. For example, while Jupiter takes 12 years to circle around the Sun and therefore spends about a year in each sign, Pluto with its 240-year orbit can spend over 20 years in the same sign!
Because all the people in your age group will most likely have Uranus, Neptune and Pluto in the same signs, they are called "generational" planets. Instead of describing your personal life, they reveal influences that affect your entire generation.
However, the houses in your chart where the outer planets reside -- determined by your time of birth, rather than the year of your birth -- show how you may go against the grain or be unusual among people of your age. In brief, Uranus represents your rebellious, unusual, innovative and possibly unstable side; Neptune represents your imagination, dreams and ideals; and Pluto shows your passion, depth and intensity.

You are part of a 7 year group of people who break up all manner of taboos regarding death, sex, and any other personal, private, or difficult topics. Your age group is less modest about sex than other age groups and promiscuity is not uncommon. You love emotional intensity, and there are many extremists and fanatics in your age group.

Your childhood or your relationship with your parents was unsettling or unstable in some way, so that you may never have felt that you had firm ground beneath your feet. One of your parents may have been unusual, eccentric or simply an inconstant influence in your life. Abrupt changes in location or in family relationships may have made you feel insecure but, on the positive side, you were given more freedom and less pressure to conform to conventions. This enables you to be more of an individual and less tethered to restrictive ideas of how one "should" behave, feel or live.

You are part of a 12 year group of people who are deeply interested in personal relationships. Your age group has a deeply-rooted yearning to see people relating and communicating with each other effectively and harmoniously. There is little egotism and a willingness to hear the other person's side of the story and a readiness to compromise and arbitrate different points of view. In fact, the need for harmonious, peaceful relationships is so strong that there is a tendency to overlook real differences and to focus only on the similarities in an attempt to bring different parties into harmony with each other.
Interest in psychology and sociology is high in your age group. There is a tremendous heightening of awareness of social skills. Your age group will experiment with different marriage styles, family relationships, and even business relationships in an attempt to bring fair treatment and effective communication between people. Interest and appreciation for other cultures is also strong, and your age group will work hard to preserve and support the cultural heritage of all ethnic groups.
Your strong yearning for equitable and harmonious relationships is also reflected in major advancements in trade agreements, arms control, and international cooperation that are designed and implemented by your generation. These agreements and policies foster a much safer and more cooperative environment for all, although there is also a tendency for greedy individuals to take advantage of the conciliatory atmosphere and twist situations to their own ends.
In short, you are part of a generation of individuals who are deeply interested in other people; you are a humanistic and humanitarian group. You will struggle and experiment with personal relationships, and forge new models for how people can relate as friends, family members, and members of nations as well.

You have a probing, penetrating mind and are highly analytical and critical in your thinking. Work that involves research, investigating mysteries or hidden causes, or deep study and analysis suits you very well.
You are also a convincing speaker, bringing others around to your own point of view by the intensity of your convictions.

You are part of a 14 year group of people that are extremely idealistic and farsighted in their dreams. Your age group is very liberal and expansive in outlook, and consequently churches become much more flexible and more eclectic in their approach during your life time. Religions that do not adapt to the broad-minded attitude of your age group simply are unable to attract very much interest and involvement from you.
