The planet of the mind and mouth moves backward through Pisces, Feb. 23 - Mar. 17

Mercury Retrograde in Pisces Horoscopes

It's that time of year again! Mercury, the planet that rules all types of communication, thought, and commerce will stand still in the sky on February 23, and then begin a cosmic backflip that'll last until March 17. During any Mercury Retrograde phase it's wise to refrain from signing important documents or contracts. You also shouldn't interview for a brand-new job, purchase any big ticket item (especially if it's mechanical or electronic), or make any vital decisions.

This is however, your golden time to collect your thoughts, reconsider a decision or clarify information that comes to you. Revise work, reconnect with people from your past, and redo anything that needs a second chance.

And if you need help making a decision during this confusing time, you can get clear answers for any situation you face with a Yes or No Tarot reading!

In addition, since this Mercury Retrograde happens in Pisces, you'll have a lovely opportunity to replenish your mind with what nourishes your spirit most. Mercury hibernating in Pisces might leave more time for daydreaming and fantasizing, but it'll also rejuvenate a stale imagination. The key to using this particular retrograde phase effectively will lie in your ability to trust those voices inside your head -- especially if they tell you to keep quiet!

In addition to these basic guidelines for how to use Mercury retrograde wisely, be sure to read the horoscope for your zodiac sign for more personalized insight.

Aries (March 21 - April 19)

Talk about going within! For the next several weeks, don't be surprised if you recoil at the thought of leading the social pack. Completely unlike you, right? But when Mercury moves retrograde in your 12th House of Privacy, the most unconscious, hidden part of your chart, the last thing you may feel like doing is speaking up for yourself or moving mountains with your mouthpiece. Now is a much better time to carve out a few precious hours each week to journal, or revisit the idea of hypnotherapy or even psychotherapy if there's anything rattling the depths of your psyche that you know may be on the verge of healing. First, however, before you let the past go, you may need to relive it. Fortunately, that's exactly what Mercury Retrograde in Pisces will help you achieve.

Taurus (April 20 - May 20)

Lucky you! Mercury's retrograde in your 11th House of Friends and Groups just might lead to you rekindling an previous friendship with one of your old high school or college pals. You may also decide to revamp an existing website during this time (just don't launch a brand new one). Although it's true that during these weeks you might have more than the usual amount of communication snafus in your social life, take it in stride. If you learn to use any misunderstanding as a springboard to help strengthen your alliances, then in the end you can make it through this retrograde phase and keep your social life intact.

Gemini (May 21 - June 20)

Although you might feel as if you're taking a giant step backwards in the career department during this retrograde phase, do your best to change your frame of mind around whatever roadblocks you may encounter. It's possible that a vital meeting, contract, or negotiation that's instrumental in the progress of your career will feel stagnant now. If this happens, though, you'll have an instant red flag that you may need to rework something around it. Comb over any presentation or conversation you plan to have with the boss. Then, after Mercury has regulated his orbit, you can proceed with confidence. In addition, if you play your cards right, an authority figure might actually compliment you on your clever, imaginative strategy!

Cancer (June 21 - July 22)

If you're enrolled in a continuing education course, or if you're studying for an advanced degree, the next few weeks might be tricky to navigate. With Mercury backtracking through your 9th House of Adventure, you might have a difficult time concentrating as you find yourself daydreaming more, or suddenly act all right-brained when you need to focus and hit the books. While Mercury Retrograde in Pisces will be a great time to reprocess your perspective on spirituality, philosophy or even metaphysics, if there's a test to take or a paper to write, you may want to hire a tutor or ask for an extension. The good news is that if there's anything you don't understand, if you take the time to relearn the material now, it's more likely to stick in your medulla once Mercury turns direct.

Leo (July. 23 - Aug. 22)

Over the next few weeks, you may want to take a good, hard look at your investments, tax paperwork, or a joint financial agreement you're involved in. The potential for the wool to be pulled over your eyes when it comes to money matters is strong now, and you may fall victim to a too-good-to-be-true investment if you're not careful. Enlist the opinion of a financial advisor you trust and avoid making a commitment until Mercury has regulated his orbit. Also, if you discover any error in your taxes -- either your current file or past claims -- now will be a good time to fix whatever is wrong. You may locate important documents that you thought went missing a long time ago relating to your finances. That would be a good thing!

Virgo (Aug. 23 - Sept. 22)

Unfortunately, you're a sign more sensitive to Mercury Retrograde snafus thanks to Mercury being your ruling planet. Although this doesn't doom you to a three week sprint of endless frustration, you may suffer from more than the usual amount of miscommunication during these cycles. This time around, Mercury's retrograding through your 7th House of Relationships. Although you may be involved in discussions, it's not ideal to begin any new business alliance now. If you do proceed with negotiations now, you may experience a misunderstanding about the division of tasks, or you won't easily agree on a major decision. Disappointment is likely and if you don't feel it right away, eventually it'll catch up to you. If you're married, try your best not to take it personally if you feel as if your mate isn't listening.

Libra (Sept. 23 - Oct. 22)

If there's one piece of advice you may want to follow during the next three weeks it's this: avoid all water-cooler gossip at the office! Mercury Retrograde in Pisces may lead to exceptionally nebulous communication amongst colleagues, and the last thing you want is to get roped into the crossfire. If you're involved in a team project, do your best to listen to your co-workers as they express ideas, and be sure to ask them to clarify if there's even the slightest bit of confusion. If you have a deadline-sensitive assignment there might be a delay, so try not to be so hard on yourself. The good news about Mercury being retrograde in your 6th House of Daily Routine is that by the end of this phase, you'll have all the paperwork on your desk in better order.

Scorpio (Oct. 23 - Nov. 21)

Expect romance to be, well ... interesting. With Mercury traveling backward in your 5th House of Love and Romance, if you're in a relationship there might be a fair share of back flipping when it comes to any decision you and your lover need to make. If you're not sure where you stand, you may even go back and forth about a potential break-up. You might feel as if your lover isn't listening to you as much or has suddenly become unavailable for stimulating dialogue. Now will be a good time, however, to bring up an unresolved issue the two of you have from the past. You may be able to hash things out and attain closure. Single Scorpios may have their own problem if an ex decides to resurface -- especially if you decide to give him or her a second chance. Don't say you weren't warned!

Sagittarius (Nov. 22 - Dec. 21)

When it comes to your home and family, you might feel tempted to crawl under a rock for the next three weeks in an effort to avoid as much domestic interaction as possible. With Mercury Retrograde in your 4th House of Home and Family, it's possible that you and a relative might have a disagreement or misunderstanding. Be extra careful to not make any promise you know you can't keep since there will be little tolerance from your clan. And if you're considering a move, avoid signing a new lease agreement and don't be so quick to give an offer on a house. You'll be at a decided disadvantage when it comes to negotiation until Mercury is back on track.

Capricorn (Dec. 22 - Jan. 19)

If there's any sign who can expect to have car trouble over the next three weeks, it's you, Capricorn. Correction: make that travel trouble. Period. That's what happens when Mercury turns retrograde in your 3rd House of Transportation. In the market for a new car? Great -- you can look, but don't buy unless you want to enjoy the taste of a lemon. If you have a car already, it's possible that you'll encounter frustrating mechanical issues that take more than one attempt to resolve. If you've got a short trip planned, either for business or pleasure, be sure to allow extra time for delays. Also, check that you've packed everything important. Even better, make a list first. Then, check it twice!

Aquarius (Jan. 20 - Feb. 18)

On a positive note, when Mercury travels backward through your 2nd House of Money and Talents, you have every opportunity to go back to one of those abilities you put on the shelf and revisit the idea of monetizing it. The trick is, though, you'll need to get past the stinkin' thinkin' from the past that stopped you in the first place. In addition, this is one of the best cycles for revising your budget. Take an honest look at your income versus expenses, and be sure to add in those invisible expenses like coffee, treats and magazine purchases. By the end of this cycle you might find extra money that can be used for savings, or toward the purchase of something really meaningful.

Pisces (Feb. 19 - March 20)

If there was ever a time to be aware of your tendency to drift away to fantasy land, it's now. Mercury will retrograde in your zodiac sign, which will likely affect your ability to present your thoughts in a coherent way to others. Even if what you say makes total sense to you, there may be something about the delivery of your information that confuses whomever you're talking to. On a more positive note, this retrograde cycle will be perfect if you're in the midst of a project that has to do with music, the arts or writing. Remain confident that when you speak with your soul, it's a universal language regardless of what Mercury has to say about it.

Don't forget -- the Yes or No Tarot is here to provide clarity during this foggy retrograde!
